We are looking for a reliable LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) to care for individuals with intellectual disabilities in a professional and considerate manner. You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse. LPN professionals must be first and foremost qualified and compassionate. The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing diverse basic care to those who need it while remaining patient and calm.
Responsibilities
• Monitor and update MARS as needed.
• Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, and blood sugar checks as needed
• Observe individuals given PRN meds to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.
• Assist Direct Support Professionals with behaviors of individuals
• Communicate with other staff members professionally and keep supervisor up to date on concerns or issues
• Assist individuals with healthy menu planning
• Transport individuals to appointments as necessary
Skills
• Proven experience as LPN
• Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
• Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices
• Excellent knowledge of medical and hospital terminology
• Able to lift and assist with physical transfers
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassionate and able to handle stress
• Hold current unencumbered LPN license
